Retail trading suffered during what was the wettest April on record. According to the British Retail Consortium sales slipped 3.3% with fashion and footwear especially hard hit. All trading areas including online sales were affected.

Aspects Beauty Company has appointed Liz Chapman as PR Manager for its recently created 'new and niche brands division' which is managed by Janey Pumphrey. Liz will be joining the team as a freelance consultant for two days a week, working on launching all the new fragrances, makeup and skincare lines within this niche division. The first brand managed by the division will shortly launch at Harvey Nichols London.
Over 22,000 readers logged on to vote for their favourite beauty products in this year's Sunday Times Style Magazine awards. The awards are mostly for all-time favourites supplemented by the Editor's Prize in each category. Winning brands and products included Clinique (Best Skincare), Chanel No5 (Best Women's Classic Fragrance), John Frieda (Best Haircare Brand), Aussie 3 Minute Miracle Reconstructor (Best Hair Product) and Garnier Ambre Solaire (Best Self-Tanning Brand). Voters, however, did not agree with CEW members' choices of Best New Women's and Men's Fragrances opting instead for Miss Dior Eau de Parfum and Emporio Armani Diamonds Black Carat instead of the CEW(UK) selection of Marc Jacobs Daisy Eau So Fresh and Hugo Boss Orange Man.
