The Marlborough Perfumery located in the top people’s Wiltshire town and owned by Lis Williams, has now opened - the stunningly designed interior with its white, silver and glass cabinetry, takes its inspiration from the 1920s and 1930s (a golden age for fragrance and for style). The perfumery will offer a library of new, niche and classic fragrances chosen to appeal to the town’s wealthy inhabitants.

“Marlborough is absolutely the right place for a new perfumery,” says Lis Williams. “I have been seeking a retail opportunity here for the last three years and I was thrilled when this property in the historic Hughenden Yard (a cobbled mews leading directly onto the high street) came up.”

The affluent market town of Marlborough is home to Marlborough College, one of the principal boarding schools in the country with fees set at just under £30,000 per annum. Retailers serving this community of wealthy parents, pupils, landowners, farmers, leading racehorse trainers, and business commuters to London include 24 ladies’ fashion boutiques and scores of niche and independent traders. The perfumery fits perfectly within this environment.

Miller Harris which appoints one outlet per county, has chosen the perfumery to showcase the brand and among other early sales successes (at the time when esprit visited the store, two weeks after opening in August), have been La Perla, Ombre Rose and Ted Baker. Lis has an exciting launch schedule covering a plethora of brands for the critical weeks leading up to Christmas.

Having been in the fragrance and beauty industry for many years working in senior executive positions for companies including Revlon, Estee Lauder, Elizabeth Arden and Ella Bache shoppers at The Marlborough Perfumery can be assured of a knowledgeable and personal service.
